Payday 3 News: Huge Strike Team Announcements At Last

Intro

Intro

It's been 2 months since Syntax Area came out for Payday 3, and since then we've had very little information with regards to the future of Payday 3, other than Star Bre's assembling a Strike Team to try and figure out the best path forward to fix the game, boost the player numbers back up, and generally have people interested in Payday 3 again and today.

Star Rees, for that. But literally, about two months after the syntax era came out, we've got the post, and I have it in big, long PNG forms for me to scroll through and read through with you guys, so we are here to discuss. What has very, ironically been called an operation medic bag, which is going to be a star's from what I've been told full explanation as to what exactly is going to happen over the next 6 months plus for payday 3, so I'm very keen to see what they got to say here obviously. I bear in mind this is obviously just going to be them talking about their plan I don't believe there's any dates given for anything here so take it with a grain of salt as to when these things come out I know for a lot of you myself included will only really start to see things change when we see actions rather than words, but from what I've heard there are some big words here so let's get into it read it through and see what they've got to say so last month they shared a short update letting us know they were working on an updated comprehensive road map of what they're doing for payday 3 over the course of 2024, so summarizing all feedback from the community they have identified what they believe will be some of the most impactful changes to Payday 3 and have listed them below so let's have a look we have first off 2024.

2024 improvement highlights

2024 improvement highlights

Improvements highlight key things this year's changes to progression: new content, a UI revamp, stability matchmaking, and a browser at our crimet. From the sounds of it, it sounds very good, both in solo mode and in SL offline mode. Not sure if there's a difference between the two, but what we're going with, let's see what they've got to say about initial focus.

Initial focus

We have a little header here for things they're going to focus on in the shorter term, so quick play is good. We need that unready button play again feature vote kick load out, renaming controller improvements, recurring smaller content drops, and rotating stealth modifiers. The daily activities of the rewards mask vendor include weekly rotating inventory, merging players into parties postmatch, and communication wheel improvements.

Key focal points

Key focal points

Okay, replayability and progression refer to features that will make playing again easier and more enjoyable. Stick with your group. The Infam System, and more so, how are we having an INF system right now in game? But that's your base level, so how are we changing that? Let's see fantasy and heisting.

This one will reinforce the heisting fantasy involving a crime-style map as well as more features to make you feel like a true heist. Okay, very generic. I think crime net's a big win having a crime net-style browser, as I was predicting up there. I do think that's a very good thing to do, but it's very vague beyond that, so I'm intrigued to know what they mean by that.

That seems more like buzzworthy.

Offline mode

Offline mode

But crime net I like I like a lot we do want to tackle biggest topics brought up by the pday community head on s we put together a list of what we identified as the key areas of improvement along with short descriptions for each topic , so let's do it one by one good start with the bigan solo mode and off offline mode it's clear to us the community wants to be the ability to play Payday 3 reliably and on your own terms in order to meet that need we'll be doing two major changes to the current implementation.

console

First, we will be developing a standalone, solo mode that you can get into without going through the matchmaking flow. Good start this will be a local game on your own machine. By circumventing the need to connect to a server, we see this being rolled out in two phases. Phase one will still require an online connection to our backend systems for progression unlocks, etc., whereas Phase 2 will look to improve on the solo mode implementation and allow you to play the game without requiring a constant internet connection.

You will need to connect intermittently to our backend to upload your progression, but we will otherwise be able to play offline. We'll need to come back with details on exactly how this will play out. Yeah, you're going to need to do that. I can see what they're going for, but I think it's a little bit vague because it doesn't really explain quite how offline it's going to be.

I'm not surprised; I'm saying you have to intermediately connect to the back end. That makes sense, and I would hope that even for people with weaker internet connections. That's more manageable. I'm thinking maybe something like Hitman 3 connecting to servers to upload like leaderboard progression things like that but can you pause the game that's not mentioned at all it's a big thing for at least for me when I'm trying to get solo gameplay if I have something to do to go somewhere and I can't pause the game to answer the door or to make food or to go the toilet for goodness sake like you know I would very much appreciate that being mentioned and it hasn't been, but I'm very glad that they are at least acknowledging an offline mode and I'm going to be intrigued to see how this plays out but again this will need more details and I imagine most the information will come through via how it's executed.

So we'll see where that goes, but at least they made it the top priority. It's no longer on the table; we need a different word on the desk. I don't know, or maybe I have no metaphor at all. It's probably a bad idea. Let's be real here.

Anyway, try matchmaking and the server browser. Next on the topic of cooperative play, our matchmaking isn't doing a good job of bringing people together. You can say that, again, we have a number of social and cooperative features planned for the year, as well as rebuilding our matchmaking functionality into a much more robust system.
