The Payday 'killers' Have Arrived

The high-level concept, as explained on their official website and Twitter, is that Midway City is an unregulated innovation zone backed by business entities with no human rights agencies to appease. As a result, businesses operating in this district are more than willing to hire enterprising criminals to sabotage their industry competition and assist in their rise to the top.

This means players will be charged with planning and executing heists through industrial espionage, sabotage, theft, and assassination, or for the paycheck from whichever dystopian corporation offers the most cash. I don't think we should be expecting Bane's moral crusade against the US government or the payday gang's revenge tail against their wrongdoers, for this one all seems to be driven by pure corporate greed that sets the stage for role-playing some serious bastards.

Glancing at the initially confusing trailer, we get a little insight into the technically advanced world of den of wolves through the eyes of who I assume to be the leading member of this criminal gang Dallas in the future, undergoing a form of mind-probing investigation after being caught on a recent heist.

This Mr bowman character, who looks to be a high-ranking company executive, is interrogating him both verbally and subconsciously. With a truth seeking machine giving us momentary glimpses of the actual FPS gameplay we can expect with gunfights against other humans and what appears to be robots on the cards drills and vaults were also confirmed, as we learn the gang was after a key to unlock someone not something my best guess is that the tech they were stealing pertain to unlocking some sort of extraordinary human potential but we learn no more in this trailer as somehow it looks like the tables have been turned as now Mr Bowman is the war in captivity being seemingly hand soloed into this strange gag Ball Contraption as the playable character is joined by his other three crew mates in the cell whilst it doesn't show all that much and makes about as much sense as payday 2's args, this is honestly an awesome trailer for anyone with an interest in the heisting genre successfully introducing the highlevel narrative futuristic World building and the game's playable characters all while showing mouthwatering glimpses of loud gameplay for those with a Keen Eye payday 3 desperately needed a hypb building narrative trailer like this one years ago in my opinion.

Outside of the obvious praiseworthy points such as its Stellar voice acting Immaculate visual presentation and jarringly unique music this trailer does a great job of setting up den of wolves as a clear payday competitor, the parallels in gameplay and form matter obvious introduces a four-player FPS heisting game that takes place across separate Heist sessions the specific Heist it showcases in brief memory flashes has this strange pseudo Asian futurism to it and the Techno masks of the Den's crew members seem to share this aesthetic, just glancing at their appearance it's tough to not see them as original payday gang Regens with their individual personalities being conveyed by their attire stances and mass designs with three male characters by the looks of it alongside one female.

Overall this trailer is very impressive it has this air of insanity and Intrigue around its Tech that almost extends to body horror meaning I'm hooked on the narrative and setting but far from sold without much gameplay to go off further cementing their desire to make this a game announcement for only the most hardcore, they followed it up with an alternate reality game website that allows you to get a little more insight into the world and Heights within it by a series of simple keyboard mini games you can unlock different nodes on what appears to be a crimet style map of Midway City allowing you access to all sorts of teaser content ranging from files required to go further in the ARG, to a article recording from a breach security cam showcasing more elements of what the game has to offer the mini games flow into each other unlocking more nodes along the way and giving you access to audio and image files deepening The Narrative alongside what appears to be renders of models for things like the game's robot enemies and weapons alongside more detailed scans of what looks to be the literal den of wolves and a heist map layout.

First of all this kind of marketing is top tier although I'm not sure how successful it is without a really large instore base of interested players probably not the way I'd launch a new franchise but it would have gone hard amongst the payday Community, regardless it's incredibly Innovative and I think does a great job at self- selecting those who might be interested in a game like this one with its themes of corporate sabotage hacking and clear intention to tell a compelling story from day one unfortunately there are a number of nodes that require multiple people to unlock making it not the easiest puzzle to solve one month late to the party, overall though Den wolves is a game that you should keep on your radar payday fan or not once we' see more of what the gameplay has to offer I think it'll be easier to tell if this is going to be a Payday clone or if it's going to take the genre in a brand new Direction.

I value the work Ol Anderson has done in the past, and when Flank by the likes of Simon vickland took on the reigns of narrative director alongside a joint composer credit with the likes of Jamie Christopherson, known for his work on Metal Gear Rising for the soundtrack. I think there's a lot to be excited about if you are a heisting game fan.

Currently, we have no idea when this game's going to release, but I'd expect to hear more about the next 12 months, as we know 10 Chambers aren't shy about releasing their games into Early Access. And that's it for Den of Wolves for now. Although I plan to watch it closely over the next few months for any updates, it's evidently the most direct competition payday is facing for the time being, but should fans of the franchise be concerned after payday 3 is less than Stellar's initial performance?
